Do Animals Go to Heaven?

More than 2/3's of Americans are pet owners, who want to see their pets in the next life just as they do their human family members. So not surprisingly, the question of whether our pets go to heaven, remains a commonly asked question. But most often the answers are based on opinion, not Scripture. And most of the answers are wrong.

"Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Yahuah, thou preservest man and beast." - Psalms 36:6

Yes, animals do move on after this life. The Hebrew word for 'preservest' is the same used elsewhere for save and deliver. Yahuah not only saves mankind, but the animal kingdom as well.

Most religious leaders teach that Yahuah only saves man and only mankind is allowed into heaven. This false teaching largely originates from the Catholic Church. Firstly, in the coming ages the Kingdom of Heaven will be on earth. Secondly, Pope Pius IX was the first pope to officially declare that animals are soulless, and thus incapable of moving on. This joins the long list of Catholic teachings which contradict Scripture. The following are Scriptures which state that animals do in fact possess souls.

Man is composed of 3 substances, body, soul and spirit. As shown, Scripture states that animals have souls, but do they also have spirits? Yes.

"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity." - Eccl 3:19

The Hebrew word translated as breath in this passage 'ruwach' is translated 232 times in Scripture as spirit. The passage reads on, again referring to the spirit of beasts. It also calls out those who arrogantly state that the fate of animals is the ground while the fate of man is heaven.

"All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? - Eccl 3:20-21

Some try to say that the above passage is making a statement that the spirit of animals goes down to into the ground upon death. If this were true it would not be in the form of a question. Also, further into Ecclesiastes it tells us where the spirit goes (not just that of man but all spirit)...

"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto Elohim who gave it." - Eccl 12:7

Animals, being spiritual beings, know their Creator. They cry out to Him.

"The beasts of the field cry also unto thee" - Joel 1:20

Animals in Heaven

The following passages taken from Isaiah describe the nature of animals in the Kingdom of Heaven. All of the animal kingdom will live in peace, and they will live in peace with us.

"And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the young goat, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a young child will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze, Their young will lie down together, And the lion will eat straw like the ox. The nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. They will not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain." - Isaiah 11:6-9
